Your Challenge

The organization that you support has grown from a handful of Macs to the point where you have 20 or more of them, spread out among several offices. Many of them are laptops and are not always in an office. Going around to each one and installing software updates is getting old. Keeping track of who has which version of what software is becoming impossible. Apple Remote Desktop helps, but it just isn't the right tool.

Or perhaps you're a consultant, with clients spread out across a city or a broad area. VPN access to each client is not always reliable and traveling to each client may not be easy or convenient — driving from one location to another can easily chew up half the day. Even after you gain access, updating 20 or 30 computers with four or five configurations is a pain in the neck.

We Have the Tools You Need

PACKA-GEm allows you to manage your computers on a policy basis — assigning computers to logical groupings, then pushing packages and keeping track of inventory based on those groupings. No more asking, "wait, do you have a MacBook or a MacBook Pro?" You'll know right away what kind of Mac you're working with and can send the appropriate updates to that Mac right away.

PACKA-GEm is based on the Casper Suite from JAMF Software, a system that is designed to track computer configurations and distribute packages across large enterprises. We've scaled it down so that you can use it with smaller organizations of fewer than 100 computers. Depending on your circumstances, you may find it useful with even two or three Macs.
