How It All Started

PACKA-GEm began when two Apple consultants were having lunch at an Irish pub in Arlington, VA and griping to each other about a client. The client had around 50 Macs, but many of them were far away in Abu Dhabi. Both guys were familiar with the Casper Suite, and they were complaining to each other that Casper would be perfect for this client, but the client didn't have enough seats. The setup costs would make the system a non-starter. Then the light bulb went off.

"You know, we have several different clients each about the same size. Is there some way that we can set it up so that we can spread the cost between all of them?"

"Hey, how about we make this a hosted service? That way we can spread it across lots of clients, not just our own?"
